1. Architectural Separation: The Invariant Spine (\(\mathcal{T}\)) vs. Evolvable Aperture Basis Sets (\(\{\mathcal{E}\}\))

To prevent category confusion and allow the framework to scale across diverse geographical, cultural, and scientific contexts, this methodology enforces a strict separation between two architectural layers:

1.1 The Immutable Mathematical Spine (\(\mathcal{T}\))

The differential-geometric and non-equilibrium thermodynamic specification locked in foundational-manifold-2026-10-20-r7.json and foundational-manifold-companion-2026-10-20-r10.md (\(O_0 \to O_\Omega\)) is not one aperture among many. It is the candidate substrate-independent mediating structure (\(\mathcal{T}\)) onto which epistemological, physical, biological, somatic, and expressive apertures are mapped. Whether these mappings constitute a structure-preserving functor latent in the source disciplines, rather than one imposed by the act of mapping, is the hypothesis \(H_1\) tested in empirical_validation_protocol.md §1.2. Its 39 equation blocks across coordinates \(O_0 \to O_\Omega\), index valences, regularity classes, and standing hypotheses remain invariant across all domains.

1.2 Evolvable Orthogonal Aperture Basis Sets (\(\{\mathcal{E}_{k,m}\}\))

An Orthogonal Aperture \(\mathcal{E}_{k,m}\) (where \(k\) indexes the organizational tier and \(m\) indexes the slot within that tier) is a formal specification of a distinct scientific discipline, philosophical lineage, linguistic calculus, or embodied modality mapped homomorphically onto Spine \(\mathcal{T}\).

Unlike Spine \(\mathcal{T}\), no specific list or grid of apertures is permanently frozen. An aperture array is a working topological basis chosen to span the degrees of freedom of a given inquiry: * Portability: Any slot may be re-instantiated with another discipline, tradition, or language family that addresses the same structural problem, under the protocol of §2.2 and the level-of-description rule of §3.1, while preserving the exact operator mappings to Spine \(\mathcal{T}\). * Evolutionary Refinement Across Research Stages: Even within a single research program, the selection and grouping of apertures is expected to evolve as empirical findings accumulate. Validating the mathematical skeleton \(\mathcal{T}\) requires locking a coherent working basis set for each experimental milestone while maintaining a transparent protocol for modifying, splitting, merging, or substituting apertures in future iterations.

2. Reference Organizational Heuristic & Modification Protocol

2.1 The Multi-Tier Scale Cascade and Four-Part Functional Homology

While domain-specific adaptations are encouraged, a high-coherence reference architecture organizes apertures into a five-tier scale-and-coupling cascade, where each tier internally reflects a four-part functional homology:

  1. Five-Tier Scale Cascade (Vertical Axis):
  2. Tier 1 — Foundational Epistemological & Linguistic Ontologies (tier_1_ontological_grammars.md): Macro-grammars of open, non-Cartesian reality.
  3. Tier 2 — Abiotic, Continuum & Tectonic Physics (tier_2_abiotic_continuum_physics.md): Condensed-matter and phase-transition physics, continuum fluid and wave mechanics, atmospheric radiative and thermal boundary physics, and geomorphic and structural mechanics.
  4. Tier 3 — Ecological, Metabolic & Phenological Networks (tier_3_ecological_living_networks.md): Vascular plant physiology and rhizosphere coupling, movement ecology and ecotone foraging, benthic and edaphic biogeochemical metabolism, and chronobiology and phenological synchrony.
  5. Tier 4 — Somatic, Neuro-Attentional & Affective Interiority (tier_4_somatic_contemplative_interiority.md): Myofascial biotensegrity and postural mechanics, vestibular equilibrium and sensorimotor contact, neuro-attentional and autonomic regulation, and affective regulation and psychophysiological resilience.
  6. Tier 5 — Acoustic, Poetic & Cross-Substrate Symbiosis (tier_5_expressive_collective_symbiosis.md): Environmental acoustics and rhythmic entrainment, poetic prosody and psycholinguistic condensation, spatial choreography and relational kinesiology, and inter-subjective and cross-substrate symbiosis.

  7. Four-Part Intra-Tier Homology (Horizontal Slot Logic): Within any tier \(k\), ordering the apertures across four functional slots creates vertical resonance across the entire matrix:

  8. Slot \(k.1\) (Structural & Relational Substrate): Establishes the foundational lattice, ontology, vascular/fascial architecture, or resonant medium (\(O_0, O_2, O_5\)).
  9. Slot \(k.2\) (Dynamic Flow, Wave & Trajectory Kinetics): Governs cyclic excitation/damping, wave dispersion, movement ecology, contact balance, or prosodic flow (\(O_1, O_2, O_6\)).
  10. Slot \(k.3\) (Boundary Gating, Directional Exchange & Metabolic Filtering): Governs selective permeability, direct/inverse phase-lead indexing, radiative/biogeochemical boundary flux, attentional scope modulation, and threshold navigation (\(O_1, O_4, O_6\)).
  11. Slot \(k.4\) (Coalescence, Hysteresis & Macroscopic Closure): Governs network percolation, condensed memory archives, multi-scale phase-locking, boundary convexity, and homothetic co-evolution (\(O_3, O_5, O_7, O_\Omega\)).

2.2 Protocol for Modifying the Aperture Basis Set

When substituting apertures or extending the tier system to a new disciplinary focus or evolutionary iteration, synthetic active states should follow three rules: 1. Preserve Span Across Scales: Any modified basis set must retain coverage across abiotic physics, living ecology, embodied interiority, and relational/symbolic expression so that Spine \(\mathcal{T}\) is exercised across both material and informational substrates. 2. Document Basis Substitutions Explicitly: When substituting or adding an aperture, explicitly state which functional slot(s) and tensor coordinates (\(O_0 \to O_\Omega\)) the new aperture spans. 3. Follow the Native Topology Inside Each Aperture: Within any individual aperture, never force the exposition into a mechanical checklist if the domain's native logic is organized around dual feedback cycles, a grammatical paradigm, or a specific boundary layer. Let the discipline's authentic structure lead the prose while mapping its operators rigorously onto \(\mathcal{T}\).

2.3 Per-Aperture Declarations and Coordinate Coverage

Coverage. Spine \(\mathcal{T}\) (r7) has two asymptotic branches.

  • Branch I (\(H_0 > 0\)) is the unbounded homothetic horizon, verified by the r10 §5.1–§5.12 witnesses.
  • Branch II (\(H_0 = 0\)) is a bounded non-equilibrium steady state, verified by the r10 §5.13 witness.

The apertures fall into three groups:

  • Tier 1 apertures are ontological and grammatical homologies. They map onto all nine coordinates \(O_0 \to O_\Omega\), in either branch, as conceptual correspondences. They declare no empirical domain and make no empirical claim.
  • Twelve empirical apertures in Tiers 2–5 (all except 4.3, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4) instantiate all nine coordinates on their declared domains and declare Branch II. Bounded physical, ecological, and somatic systems settle toward a non-equilibrium steady state under sustained throughput; they do not expand without bound. Finite windows test that state only through the tests of §5.5. Statements that hold in Branch I only (r10 Decision 6) are never applied to these apertures.
  • Four apertures (4.3, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4) are provisionally homological in this epoch. Their systems are quasi-static (bioelectric potentials in conducting media), inertial (airflow in phonation), or advective (goal-directed movement). r7's storage–diffusion balance law cannot represent these systems literally. These apertures map all nine coordinates as conceptual correspondences, like Tier 1, and make no empirical claim until a future spine epoch provides the needed forms. A homological aperture may read its correspondences against one branch form, with a stated reason; it then declares no branch in the sense of closure (v), because nothing is evaluated.

Declarations. Every empirical aperture declares the following in its §1 Scope block and in the master table below. Each declaration must satisfy every requirement r7 places on it.

  1. Domain \(\mathcal{M}\) and boundary \(\partial\mathcal{M}\): the system's own region, compact and connected, of dimension \(n = 3\), with smooth boundary. It is \(\tau\)-independent within a declared observation window, so growing systems declare a window in which the domain can be treated as fixed. Supply must cross \(\partial\mathcal{M}\): r7 admits interior sinks but no interior sources. The cover \(\{\mathcal{U}_i\}\) of \(O_5\), the Neumann Laplacian of \(O_4\), the overlaps of \(O_6\), and the boundary flux of \(O_1\) are all defined on \(\mathcal{M}\).
  2. Metric \(g_{\mu\nu}\):
  3. Flat by default. The physical metric of a region of Euclidean space is flat, so by default \(G_{\mu\nu} \equiv 0\). Then \(T^{\mathrm{mat}} = 0\), \(\nabla\cdot\xi = 0\) (with \(n = 3\)), \(\xi\) is a Killing field, and the \(\tau\)-compatibility equation reduces to \(\mathbb{L}_{\mathrm{Ein}}[\sigma]_{\mu\nu} = \frac{n-2}{n}(\nabla_\mu\nabla_\nu\theta - g_{\mu\nu}\nabla^2\theta)\) (so \(\mathbb{L}_{\mathrm{Ein}}[\sigma] = 0\) wherever \(\theta\) is spatially uniform), which is the Saint-Venant compatibility that real strain rates satisfy. The stress sector is then trivial or Killing.
  4. Curvature requires a declared material metric. \(G_{\mu\nu} \neq 0\) is admitted only where the aperture declares and justifies a non-Euclidean material metric. An incompatible-growth metric in morphoelasticity is the standard example.
  5. Cone speed. Speeds carry units, so each aperture declares a cone speed \(c_*\), with \(u^2 = g_{\mu\nu}v^\mu v^\nu/c_*^2 < 1\). All tracer speeds must satisfy \(\ll c_*\), so that \(f_{\mathrm{drive}} \approx a_{\mathrm{d}}\).
  6. Free energy \(\mathcal{F}\):
  7. \(\mathcal{F}\) is a named energy per unit volume, with \(\nabla\mathcal{F} \neq 0\) on \(\mathcal{M}\), and it has a non-negligible storage term: its relaxation time to a change in boundary data (\(\ell^2/D\) for domain size \(\ell\) and diffusivity \(D\)) is finite and resolvable. \(\mathcal{F}\) may be steady within a window, as a Branch II state approaches steady state.
  8. It obeys the r7 \(O_4\) balance law \(\partial_\tau\mathcal{F} + \mathcal{F}\theta = -\nabla_\alpha J_W^\alpha - \mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{F}}\), with \(J_W^\alpha = -\mathfrak{K}^{\alpha\beta}\nabla_\beta\mathcal{F}\).
  9. Quasi-static fields, which follow their boundary data instantly, are not admissible.
  10. \(\mathcal{F}\) is declared in a form linear in the diffusing quantity (for example concentration times a declared constant yield, or a linearized energy density above a datum).
  11. \(\mathcal{F}\) carries a declared absolute datum \(\mathcal{F}_{\mathrm{ref}}\), with \(\mathcal{F} \ge \mathcal{F}_{\mathrm{ref}}\) throughout \(\mathcal{M}\). Every first-order sink is \(k(\mathcal{F} - \mathcal{F}_{\mathrm{ref}}) \ge 0\).
  12. Transport tensor \(\mathfrak{K}\): the default \(D_{\mathcal{F}}g^{\alpha\beta}\), or a declared parametric anisotropic tensor. Any conversion factor needed to express a measured flux as a free-energy flux (for example \(\rho g\), a specific storage, or a reaction free-energy yield) is a declared parameter.
  13. Interior sink \(\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{F}} \ge 0\): the default \(0\), or a declared consumption law (for example first-order relative to the datum, or Michaelis–Menten). It must be continuous: a sharp reaction front is represented as a smooth sink zone.
  14. Drive acceleration \(a_{\mathrm{d}}\): the default \(0\) (force-free tracers), or a declared law for forced or purposeful trajectories, entering through the cone-preserving drive of r7 \(O_2\) Eq. [3].
  15. Branch II evidence (closure (v)): a pre-declared estimator and acceptance criterion for three quantities:
  16. the trend of \(\langle\theta\rangle\);
  17. a bound on \(\int\langle\theta\rangle\,d\tau\);
  18. an estimate of \(\lim\langle\Theta_E\rangle > 0\), from measured dissipation and not from \(\mathfrak{K}\nabla\mathcal{F}\).

This evidence is obtained independently of the \(O_1\) test.

Binding constitutive closure (r7 \(O_4\)). Every non-default \(\mathfrak{K}\), \(\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{F}}\), or \(a_{\mathrm{d}}\) must satisfy four conditions:

  • (i) it is a named law with its functional form fixed before the test;
  • (ii) it has a finite number of pre-declared parameters, estimated from data independent of the test, meaning a different measurement modality on the test specimen or a declared perturbation regime, not a sister sample and not merely another time window; tabulated or fitted fields are not admissible;
  • (iii) every acceptance tolerance and criterion is fixed in advance;
  • (iv) the default model is fitted for comparison only, and if it fits at least as well, the departure is rejected.

Every evaluation also satisfies (v): the branch is declared in advance and never switched on the same data. In Branch II, \(J_E = J_W/p_0\) is fixed. A term fitted to the data it closes does not satisfy any coordinate in which it appears.

Master declaration table (\(\mathcal{B}_0\), \(n = 3\)). The first twelve rows are Branch II; the last four are provisionally homological.

2.4 Future Basis Shells (Roadmap)

\(\mathcal{B}_0\) is a mesoscale terrestrial and embodied core. Later basis sets may add concentric shells of apertures in further regimes, each mapped onto Spine \(\mathcal{T}\) under the same declarations and closure:

  • horizon-scale and relativistic physics;
  • limit-situation phenomenology;
  • non-ordinary neuro-phenomenological states;
  • reflexive metascience.

Proposals for specific shell apertures and their mappings are kept in a separate planning document outside the conditioning corpus.

3. The Zero-Leakage Holdout Standard

To preserve the empirical validity of downstream out-of-distribution testing, all Stage I and Stage II theoretical specifications must enforce strict independence from held-out empirical test contexts across two levels:

3.1 Direct Lexical Independence

Specifications must contain zero proper nouns, geographic coordinates, institutional identifiers, regional landmarks, internal application variable names, or biographical narratives associated with any downstream empirical test site or practitioner. Tier 1 traditions and language families are described only at the level of the family and its comparative reconstruction or of the classical tradition, never through subgroups below the family level, local communities, or localized geography.

3.2 Indirect Semantic & Structural-Proxy Independence

Removing proper nouns is necessary but not sufficient. If a theoretical specification illustrates its principles using hyper-specific scenarios that mirror a held-out test set, it introduces structural-proxy leakage. * The Universal Formulation Rule: All mechanisms, boundary conditions, and illustrative dynamics must be formulated in universal, textbook-general terms derived strictly from the first principles of the discipline under consideration. * Prohibition of Cross-Tier Motif Clusters: Specifications must never repeat a signature cluster of site-specific motifs across multiple tiers, and conditioning documents must never enumerate held-out site features, concretely or by category, where they could function as a positive descriptor of \(\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{test}}\). The categories auditors use for this check are maintained in a withheld auditor-only annex (annex_a_auditor_motif_hygiene.md) and are not reproduced in the conditioning corpus. * Population-Level Formulation: Somatic, contemplative, and expressive dynamics are described at the level of populations or cohorts, with example modalities rotated across apertures, never through a single recurring practitioner profile. * During Iteration: Auditing instances must actively scan for and generalize any phrasing that over-constrains a universal law to a narrow, idiosyncratic scenario that would bias blind empirical evaluation.

4. Core Principles of Epistemological Orthogonality (\(\perp\))

4.1 Orthogonality vs. Reductive Syncretism

In an inner-product or Hilbert space, two non-zero subspaces \(\mathcal{E}_A\) and \(\mathcal{E}_B\) are orthogonal (\(\mathcal{E}_A \perp \mathcal{E}_B\)) when their inner product vanishes (\(\langle u, v \rangle = 0\) for all \(u \in \mathcal{E}_A, \; v \in \mathcal{E}_B\)), so that the orthogonal projection of one subspace directly onto the other is identically zero. * Non-Reduction of Ontologies: Never assert a reductive identity between a domain's native concepts and a differential-geometric object (avoiding reductive identity claims between domain concepts and geometric operators). Scientific, linguistic, and contemplative traditions carry irreducible historical, contextual, and phenomenological hysteresis that cannot be collapsed into differential equations; conversely, differential geometry carries strict requirements of dimensional homogeneity, index valence, and falsifiability that cannot be replaced by metaphor. * Functorial Correspondence Across Relational Operators: Correspondence between orthogonal domains \(\mathcal{E}_A\) and \(\mathcal{E}_B\) is established through a structure-preserving homomorphism (functor) mediated by Spine \(\mathcal{T}\) (\(\mathcal{E}_A \leftrightarrow \mathcal{T} \leftrightarrow \mathcal{E}_B\)). Each orthogonal aperture is a candidate formalization of a distinct discipline or tradition, hypothesized under \(H_1\) (empirical_validation_protocol.md §1.2) to have independently developed operational calculi that map via Spine \(\mathcal{T}\) to six structural problems of open, non-equilibrium systems: 1. Throughput & Emergent Time (\(O_0, O_1\)): Absorbing continuous exogenous flux and sustaining positive entropy production without collapsing into static equilibrium. 2. Constraint Stiffness, Volume Insulation & Hysteresis (\(O_2, O_3\)): Navigating extrinsic curvature while algebraically isolating the volume element from anisotropic shear and consolidating transduced variance into structural memory. 3. Selective Boundary Gating & Stress Conservation (\(O_4\)): Filtering high-spatial-wavenumber ambient noise into low-eigenvalue spatial modes while conserving load-bearing boundary stress. 4. Non-Annexing Coalescence (\(O_5\)): Fusing distinct subsystems across shared overlap zones via the Riemannian geometric mean into a contiguous macroscopic medium without erasing local metrics, supporting lossless circulation around closed spatial cycles. 5. Asymmetric Coupling & Mutual Information (\(O_6\)): Pairing directional phase-lead asymmetry and trace-free stretching/folding under explicit non-degeneracy and flux-positivity hypotheses across a geodesically convex interface. 6. Impedance Relaxation & Homothetic Stationarity (\(O_7, O_\Omega\)): Relaxing spatial impedance gradients via a gauge connection and settling of form (\(\partial_\tau\tilde{g}_{\mu\nu} \to 0\)). In the \(\tau \to \infty\) limit (\(O_\Omega\)), empirical apertures approach the Branch II steady state (bounded volume, sustained throughput), and Tier 1 homologies may map either branch (§2.3).

4.2 Strict Lexicon Isolation

Each aperture specification must preserve the integrity of its native technical or traditional vocabulary. Do not blend terminology from unrelated cultural traditions or adjacent tiers within a single aperture (for example, never import terminology from a Tier 1 metaphysical ontology into a Tier 5 poetics or systems aperture, and never import civil-engineering terminology into pure continuum fluid dynamics), and do not re-introduce retired or unverified metaphors (such as calling agents or organisms "solitons") that lack an explicit operator definition in r7 or r10.

5. Mathematical & Notational Alignment Checklist (r7 & r10 Standard)

Both during initial generation and during iterative technical audits, every mathematical expression referencing Spine \(\mathcal{T}\) must be verified against the locked conventions of foundational-manifold-2026-10-20-r7.json and foundational-manifold-companion-2026-10-20-r10.md:

  1. Spacetime Foliation & Normal Expansion (\(O_0, O_1\)):
  2. Use the \((n+1)\)-dimensional Lorentzian foliation \(ds^2 = -N^2 d\tau^2 + g_{\mu\nu}(dx^\mu + \beta^\mu d\tau)(dx^\nu + \beta^\nu d\tau)\) on a compact, connected manifold \(\mathcal{M}\) (\(\dim\mathcal{M} = n \ge 3\)) with smooth boundary \(\partial\mathcal{M}\) in synchronous normal gauge (\(N = 1, \; \beta^\mu = 0\)).
  3. Write the normal extrinsic expansion scalar as \(\theta \equiv -N K \overset{N=1,\,\beta^\mu=0}{=} \frac{1}{2}g^{\mu\nu}\partial_\tau g_{\mu\nu} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{\vert g\vert}}\partial_\tau\sqrt{\vert g\vert} = \nabla_\mu J_{\mathrm{geom}}^\mu \ge 0\) (\(> 0\) in Branch I), and the throughput rate as \(\Theta_E \equiv \dot{s}_{\mathrm{prod}}/s_0\), with \(s_0\) the \(O_\Omega\) Eq. [0] constant; \(\Theta_E > 0\) follows from the \(O_1\) sign condition. Never write \(\theta = \nabla_\mu J_E^\mu\): in Branch II, \(\nabla_\mu J_E^\mu \neq \theta\).
  4. Use \(d\Sigma_\mu \equiv \hat{n}_\mu dA\) (outward unit normal \(\hat{n}_\mu\)) for directed boundary area elements so they never collide with the gauge connection \(A_\mu\), and avoid overloading reserved spine symbols (\(G_\infty\), \(\Psi\), \(\lambda\)).
  5. Write scalar free-energy density as \(\mathcal{F} \in C^2(\mathcal{M})\) (an energy per unit volume, never a potential in other units such as a voltage), inverse temperature as \(\beta_{\mathrm{th}} > 0\), reference pressure as \(p_0 \equiv (\beta_{\mathrm{th}}v_0)^{-1}\), expansion work as \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{ext}} = p_0\dot{V}_{\mathcal{M}} = p_0\oint_{\partial\mathcal{M}}J_{\mathrm{geom}}^\mu\,d\Sigma_\mu \ge 0\) (\(> 0\) in Branch I), dissipative power as \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{diss}} = \int_{\mathcal{M}}(-J_E^\mu\nabla_\mu\mathcal{F})\sqrt{\vert g\vert}\,d^nx > 0\), total power \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{tot}} = \dot{W}_{\mathrm{ext}} + \dot{W}_{\mathrm{diss}} > 0\), and entropy production in full constitutive form as \(\dot{s}_{\mathrm{prod}} = -\beta_{\mathrm{th}} J_E^\mu \nabla_\mu \mathcal{F} > 0\).
  6. \(V_{\mathcal{M}} = \int_{\mathcal{M}}\sqrt{\vert g\vert}\,d^nx\) is the physical volume of the declared domain under its physical metric. In Branch II it converges to a finite \(V_\infty\) (\(\int\langle\theta\rangle\,d\tau < \infty\)), and openness is carried by \(\Theta_E > 0\) and \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{diss}} > 0\), not by expansion.
  7. Currents. In Branch I, \(J_E^\mu \equiv J_{\mathrm{geom}}^\mu \equiv J_{\mathrm{ambient}}^\mu\vert_{\mathcal{M}}\), as in r6. In Branch II, \(J_E^\mu \equiv J_W^\mu/p_0 = -p_0^{-1}\mathfrak{K}^{\mu\nu}\nabla_\nu\mathcal{F}\) is fixed and admits no alternative, so \(J_E^\mu\nabla_\mu\mathcal{F} < 0\) holds identically wherever \(\nabla\mathcal{F} \neq 0\). The empirical content of \(O_1\) in Branch II is therefore the flux-prediction test of the binding closure (§2.3): the declared parametric \(\mathfrak{K}\), with parameters estimated per closure (ii), predicts an independently measured flux \(J_W^{\mathrm{meas}}\), with \(\nabla\mathcal{F}\) also obtained independently, within a pre-declared tolerance. Never map an inward supply current to \(J_{\mathrm{geom}}\), and never let a cyclically varying volume stand for \(\theta\).

  8. Extrinsic Geometry, Weyl Factorization, Geodesics & Shear Damping (\(O_2, O_3\)):

  9. Credit the unimodular Weyl factorization \(g_{\mu\nu}(\tau, \mathbf{x}) = \Omega^2(\tau, \mathbf{x})\hat{g}_{\mu\alpha}(\mathbf{x})(\exp\hat{h}(\tau, \mathbf{x}))^\alpha_{\;\nu}\) (\(\Omega > 0\), \(\det\hat{g} = 1\) in the fixed reference chart, \(\mathrm{Tr}(\hat{h}) = 0 \implies \det g = \Omega^{2n}\)) with algebraically isolating the volume element from anisotropic shear (\(\hat{h}\)). Never claim that this change of variables dynamically decouples \(\theta\) from environmental precision stiffness: in every \(O_2\) block, explicitly state and display the traced elliptic \(\tau\)-compatibility equation (r10 Decision 2): $\(\frac{2(n-1)}{n}\nabla^2\theta + \frac{2R}{n}\theta = -\kappa_G \frac{\partial(\nabla_\alpha\xi^\alpha)}{\partial\tau} + 2\nabla^\alpha\nabla^\beta\sigma_{\alpha\beta} - 2\sigma^{\alpha\beta}R_{\alpha\beta}\)$ which couples \(\theta\) to the precision-weighted control 1-form \(\xi_\alpha = \hat{\Pi}_{\alpha\lambda}\eta^\lambda\) (via \(R = \kappa_G\nabla_\alpha\xi^\alpha\)) and to the shear tensor \(\sigma_{\alpha\beta}\).
  10. Whenever citing the \(O_2\) Eq. [3] trajectory equation for coordinate velocity \(v^\mu = dx^\mu/d\tau\), write it in its complete r7 form, with the cone-preserving drive: $\(\left.\left(\frac{d v^\mu}{d\tau} + \Gamma^\mu_{\rho\epsilon}v^\rho v^\epsilon + g^{\mu\lambda}\left(\frac{\partial g_{\lambda\nu}}{\partial\tau}\right)v^\nu - \frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{\partial g_{\rho\epsilon}}{\partial\tau}v^\rho v^\epsilon\right)v^\mu\right)\right\vert_{N=1,\,\beta^\mu=0} = f^\mu_{\mathrm{drive}}, \quad f^\mu_{\mathrm{drive}} = (1-u^2)\left(a^\mu_{\mathrm{d}} - c_*^{-2}(g_{\alpha\beta}a^\alpha_{\mathrm{d}}v^\beta)v^\mu\right), \quad u^2 = g_{\mu\nu}v^\mu v^\nu/c_*^2 < 1\)$ With the default \(a_{\mathrm{d}} = 0\) this is the r6 geodesic equation, which governs force-free timelike tracers. Forced or purposeful trajectories (drag and gravity on grains, taxis in foraging, controlled balance or articulation, movement toward goals) use a non-zero drive acceleration \(a_{\mathrm{d}}\) declared under the binding closure: a named law with a finite number of pre-declared parameters estimated independently of the trajectories it predicts. The equation never describes static curves (principal-stress lines, grain or fibre lines, catenaries and other equilibrium shapes), and null rays are not timelike.
  11. Write the shear evolution law in mixed \((1,1)\) form: \(\nabla_\tau \sigma^\mu_{\;\nu} \equiv \partial_\tau \sigma^\mu_{\;\nu} = -\gamma_\sigma \sigma^\mu_{\;\nu}\) (\(\gamma_\sigma = \mathrm{const} > 0\), \(\sigma^\mu_{\;\mu} = 0\)), driving \(\hat{h}(\tau, \mathbf{x}) \xrightarrow{C^2(\mathcal{M})} \hat{h}_\infty(\mathbf{x})\) (where in the r10 §5.8/§5.11 witness, the shear rate \(\sigma^\mu_{\;\nu}\) decays exponentially while the integrated deformation amplitude \(a(\tau) = (2s_\sigma/\gamma_\sigma)(1 - e^{-\gamma_\sigma(\tau-\tau_0)})\) increases monotonically from \(0\) to \(a_\infty\)) and anchoring the explicitly indexed asymptotic unit-determinant reference metric \((\hat{g}_\infty(\mathbf{x}))_{\mu\nu} \equiv \hat{g}_{\mu\alpha}(\mathbf{x})(\exp\hat{h}_\infty(\mathbf{x}))^\alpha_{\;\nu}\) (\(\det\hat{g}_\infty = \det\hat{g} = 1\)).
  12. When discussing systems with non-zero boundary stress (\(G_{\mu\nu} = \kappa_G T_{\mu\nu}^{\mathrm{mat}} \not\equiv 0\)) and a strongly convex hysteresis basin (\(\nabla_\alpha\nabla_\beta\mathcal{H} \succ 0\)), never universalize the specific r10 §5.11 witness profile \(w(z) = z^{1/\sqrt{2}}\) or \(\mathcal{H}_0(z)\) as a physical law. State only that, where an aperture declares a justified non-Euclidean material metric (§2.3), its stratified profiles are candidate realizations of a configuration with \(G_{\mu\nu} \not\equiv 0\) and \(\nabla_\alpha\nabla_\beta\mathcal{H} \succ 0\), and that the r10 §5.11 warped-product witness demonstrates that such configurations exist (r10 §5.7: "The model establishes consistency of the hypothesis set, not genericity").

  13. Spectral Gating & Boundary Stress Conservation (\(O_4\)):

  14. Use the spatial spectral low-pass projector \(\hat{\mathcal{P}}_{\Lambda_{\mathrm{gate}}} \equiv \mathbf{1}_{(-\nabla^2 \le \Lambda_{\mathrm{gate}}^2)}\) onto Neumann eigenmodes of the spatial Laplace–Beltrami operator \(-\nabla^2\) on \(L^2(\mathcal{M}, d\mathrm{vol}_g)\) acting on the positive trace-class state \(\rho_{\mathrm{total}}(\tau)\) to define \(\rho_{\mathrm{local}}(\tau)\) and the global spectrally gated density \(Q(\mathbf{x}, \tau) = \langle\mathbf{x}\vert\rho_{\mathrm{local}}(\tau)\vert\mathbf{x}\rangle > 0\), with dimensionless surprisal \(q(\mathbf{x}, \tau) \equiv -\ln(v_0 Q(\mathbf{x}, \tau))\) and variational power \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{var}} = \frac{1}{t_0\beta_{\mathrm{th}}}D_{\mathrm{KL}}(Q \parallel P) > 0\). Do not conflate the spatial cutoff \(\Lambda_{\mathrm{gate}}\) directly with temporal frequency (Hz) or electromagnetic wavelength, do not apply the r10 §5.4/§5.10 witness mode labels \(\phi_0\) and \(\phi_1\) generically outside witness discussions, and do not conflate the global \(O_4\) density \(Q\) with the \(O_6\) subsystem marginals \(Q_i\).
  15. Physical wavenumbers and gate drift: the gate acts on Neumann eigenmodes of \(-\nabla^2_g\) on the declared domain with its physical metric \(g\). Its eigenvalues change only as \(g\) changes; in Branch II, \(g \to G_\infty\), so the spectrum converges and drift vanishes asymptotically. Within a finite window the drift is bounded by the change in \(g\) and must be stated as negligible when \(g\) changes by a small fraction. In Branch I's homothetic regime the comoving reference is \(\bar{g}_{\mu\nu} \equiv e^{-2H_0\tau}g_{\mu\nu}\) (r10 Decision 3).
  16. Note that \(\nabla_\mu q = -\nabla_\mu\ln Q \to 0\) requires \(Q(\mathbf{x}, \tau)\) to be spatially uniform across \(\mathcal{M}\) (\(\nabla_\mu Q \to 0\)), not merely \(Q = P\).
  17. Pair the Einstein-type (trace-adjusted) stress tensor \(T_{\mu\nu}^{\mathrm{mat}} = \nabla_{(\mu}\xi_{\nu)} - \frac{1}{2}g_{\mu\nu}\nabla_\alpha\xi^\alpha\) with the elliptic conservation equivalence \(\nabla^2\xi_\nu + R_\nu^{\;\alpha}\xi_\alpha = 0 \iff \nabla^\mu T_{\mu\nu}^{\mathrm{mat}} = 0\).

  18. Topological Coalescence, Relational Edge & Geodesic Convexity (\(O_5, O_6\)):

  19. Distinguish the candidate geometric overlap graph \(\mathcal{K}_0 \equiv \{\langle i,j\rangle : i \neq j, \; \mathcal{U}_{ij} \equiv \mathcal{U}_i \cap \mathcal{U}_j \neq \emptyset\}\) (over which the \(\tau\)-independent partition of unity \(\sum_i \psi_i + \sum_{\langle i,j\rangle \in \mathcal{K}_0}\psi_{ij} = 1\) glues \(g_{\mu\nu}^{(i)}\) and the Riemannian geometric mean \(g_{\mu\nu}^{(ij)} = (g^{(i)} \# g^{(j)})_{\mu\nu}\) into \(g_{\mu\nu} \equiv g_{\mu\nu}^{\mathrm{macro}}\)) from the actively coupled subgraph \(\mathcal{K} \equiv \{\langle i,j\rangle \in \mathcal{K}_0 : \eta_{[i\to j]}^\lambda \not\equiv 0\}\), which defines the percolation fraction \(\phi_{\mathrm{perc}}(\mathcal{K}) \equiv \vert\mathcal{K}\vert / \vert\mathcal{K}_0\vert > \phi_c \in (0,1)\). \(\mathcal{K}_0\) is fixed by the geometric overlaps of the \(\tau\)-independent cover: coupling never adds edges to \(\mathcal{K}_0\), it only determines which edges of \(\mathcal{K}_0\) belong to \(\mathcal{K}\). The asymptotic hypothesis of r7 \(O_5\) Eq. [4] (\(e^{-2H_0\tau}g^{(i)}_{\mu\nu} \to G^{(i)}_{\infty,\mu\nu} \succ 0\)) holds for common \(H_0 \ge 0\); empirical (Branch II) apertures state it with \(H_0 = 0\) (\(g^{(i)} \to G^{(i)}_\infty\)), and the \(O_6\) Eq. [4] limit \(c_{ij}\) follows (§2.3).
  20. Note that the precision-symmetrized phase-lead 1-form \((J_{[i\to j]})_\nu \equiv \frac{1}{2}(\hat{\Pi}_{\nu\lambda}^{(i)} + \hat{\Pi}_{\nu\lambda}^{(j)})\eta_{[i\to j]}^\lambda = -(J_{[j\to i]})_\nu\) is odd under \(i \leftrightarrow j\) (encoding directional phase-lead sign), while it enters \(M_{\mu\nu}^{(ij)}\) and \(S_{\mu\nu}^{(ij)}\) via its even outer product. State explicitly that \(M^{(ij)}(\mathbf{x}) \neq 0 \; \forall \mathbf{x} \in \bar{\mathcal{U}}_{ij}\) is an independent standing hypothesis under which \(\mathrm{Tr}\,M^{(ij)} = \sum_{a=1}^n m_a = 0\) implies opposite-sign extreme eigenvalues \(m_+ > 0 > m_-\) (with \(m_+ \neq -m_-\) in general for \(n \ge 3\)), and that positive mutual-information growth \(\frac{d}{d\tau}\mathcal{I}(Q_i; Q_j) = k_{\mathcal{I}}\oint_{\partial\mathcal{U}_{ij}} S_{\mu\nu}^{(ij)}\hat{n}^\mu\hat{n}^\nu dA > 0\) for \(\langle i,j\rangle \in \mathcal{K}\) is likewise an explicit standing hypothesis in r7 \(O_6\) (which, in the spatially constant coupling witness of r10 §5.5 and §5.7, requires suitable non-spherical overlap geometry and orientation).
  21. The quadratic bracket \(F_{\mu\alpha}^{(i\to j)}F_\nu^{(j\to i)\alpha}\) in \(S_{\mu\nu}^{(ij)}\) is non-zero only where both curvatures \(F^{(i\to j)} = dJ_{i\to j}\) and \(F^{(j\to i)} = dJ_{j\to i}\) are non-zero. Non-zero partner fields \(\eta_{i\to j}^\lambda\) and \(\eta_{j\to i}^\lambda\) do not guarantee this: in the r10 §5.5 and §5.11 witnesses the fields are non-zero and \(F = 0\). Fully symmetric reciprocity (\(\eta_{i\to j}^\lambda = \eta_{j\to i}^\lambda\)) gives \(\eta_{[i\to j]}^\lambda \equiv 0\) and removes the pair from \(\mathcal{K}\).
  22. All r10 numerical results hold only for the tested configurations and parameter ranges. For example, positivity and growth of the normalized flux \(C(a)\) in §5.12 were found for the tested ellipsoids over \(a \in [0, 8]\); never extend such results to all \(a\) or to general overlaps.
  23. In the r10 §5.11–§5.12 witness, convexity of the chosen coordinate ellipsoid \(E\) for all \(\tau\) requires \(a_\infty = 2s_\sigma/\gamma_\sigma < a_c(E)\), with \(a_c\) estimated numerically. This is a design constraint on \(E\) in that construction, not a universal law. When a domain threshold is discussed in an aperture, label it explicitly as an aperture-level empirical conjecture mapped to the witness criterion.

  24. Macroscopic Coherence & Homothetic Closure (\(O_7, O_\Omega\)):

  25. Use the \(C^2\), kink-free anisotropy index \(\chi(\tau, \mathbf{x}) \equiv \frac{n\,\mathrm{Tr}(\mathcal{D}^2)}{(\mathrm{Tr}\,\mathcal{D})^2} = 1 + \frac{n\,\sigma^\mu_{\;\nu}\sigma^\nu_{\;\mu}}{\theta^2} \ge 1\) (\(\chi \to 1\)), the non-Abelian adjoint covariant derivative \(D_\mu \hat{\chi} = \hat{\mathcal{E}}_\mu\) (\(\Vert\hat{\mathcal{E}}_\mu\Vert_{C^1} \to 0 \implies [F_{\mu\nu}^{\mathrm{YM}}, \hat{\chi}] \to 0\)), and the type-\((1,1)\) density endomorphisms \((\hat{\rho}_g)^\mu_{\;\nu}\) and \((\hat{\rho}_{\mathcal{H}})^\mu_{\;\nu}\) constructed with the inverse asymptotic reference metric \(\hat{g}_\infty^{\mu\alpha}\). In Branch II, where \(\theta \to 0\) and \(\chi\) is undefined, use \(\chi_E \equiv 1 + n\,\sigma^\mu_{\;\nu}\sigma^\nu_{\;\mu}/(\theta^2 + \langle\Theta_E\rangle_{\mathcal{M}}^2)\) (r7 \(O_7\) Eq. [5]), which is not \(n\,\mathrm{Tr}(\mathcal{D}^2)/(\mathrm{Tr}\,\mathcal{D})^2\), and \(\hat{\chi} = \chi_E\hat{u}\).
  26. \(\chi\) measures the anisotropy of the global deformation \(\mathcal{D}\) (r10 Decision 5): \(\chi \to 1\) means the deformation becomes isotropic as shear decays. It carries no phase, synchronization, or coherence content; attribute any synchronization claim to gauge transport (\(\Vert\hat{\mathcal{E}}_\mu\Vert_{C^1} \to 0\)), not to \(\chi\).
  27. \(O_\Omega\) has two branches (r7 \(O_\Omega\) Eq. [0]–[2]). Branch I (\(H_0 > 0\)) is the unbounded homothetic horizon: \(\theta \to nH_0 > 0\), \(V_{\mathcal{M}} \sim e^{nH_0\tau}\), \(\hat{\mathbb{L}}_{\mathrm{stat}}\Psi = 0\). Branch II (\(H_0 = 0\)) is a bounded non-equilibrium steady state: \(\theta \to 0\) with \(\int\langle\theta\rangle\,d\tau < \infty\), \(V_{\mathcal{M}} \to V_\infty\), \(\langle\Theta_E\rangle \to \Theta_\infty > 0\), \(\sigma \to 0\), \(\partial_\tau g \to 0\), \(\mathcal{I} \to s_0V_\infty\), and, with \(\vert\delta\Psi/\delta\mathcal{H}\vert\) bounded and bounded away from \(0\) uniformly, \(\hat{\mathbb{L}}_{\mathrm{stat}}\Psi \to 0 \iff J_E\cdot\nabla q \to 0\). In Branch II each coupling pair's \(O_6\) boundary flux must be integrable on \([\tau_0, \infty)\), so sustained, non-decaying coupling is never asserted for a Branch II aperture. Neither branch is static equilibrium or a periodic return: open throughput (\(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{tot}} > 0\)) persists in both. Statements that hold in Branch I only (listed in r10 Decision 6) are never applied to a Branch II aperture.
  28. Finite observation windows: no finite window \(\tau \in [\tau_0, \tau_{\mathrm{obs}}]\) exhibits a \(\tau \to \infty\) limit. Empirical claims at \(O_3\)–\(O_\Omega\) are within-window rate, residual, and sign tests: (1) exponential decay of \(\sigma^\mu_{\;\nu}\) at constant \(\gamma_\sigma > 0\); (2) decay of \(\chi_E - 1\) at rate \(2\gamma_\sigma\) wherever \(\theta \approx 0\) and \(\langle\Theta_E\rangle\) is approximately constant across the window; (3) \(\partial_\tau g_{\mu\nu}\) and \(\partial_\tau\tilde{g}_{\mu\nu}\) residuals decaying at the predicted rate; (4) non-degeneracy \(M^{(ij)} \neq 0\), with \(\sum_a m_a = 0\) as an estimator check computed with the same metric (never \(m_+ + m_- = 0\)); (5) the signs of \(\Theta_E > 0\), \(\dot{s}_{\mathrm{prod}} > 0\), and \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{tot}} > 0\) (the magnitude of \(\Theta_E\) depends on \(s_0\), which no finite window fixes, so only signs and \(s_0\)-independent rates are tested); (6) the \(O_1\)/\(O_4\) flux-prediction test of the closure; and (7) the pre-declared Branch II evidence of closure (v): the trend of \(\langle\theta\rangle\), a bound on \(\int\langle\theta\rangle\,d\tau\), and an estimate of \(\lim\langle\Theta_E\rangle > 0\).

6. Protocol for Iterative Auditing and Shear Elimination

When a synthetic active state is tasked with reviewing or iterating upon an existing set of aperture specifications, it must execute a structured four-axis diagnostic audit before approving or modifying the text:

  1. Axis I — Mathematical & Indexical Audit:
  2. Verify that every equation, tensor index, contraction, sign convention, standing hypothesis, and regularity class matches r7 and r10 exactly (including the traced elliptic \(\theta\)-equation and complete r7 trajectory equation with its cone-preserving drive in \(O_2\), explicit tensor indices on \((\hat{g}_\infty)_{\mu\nu}\) in \(O_3\), spatial low-pass projector \(\hat{\mathcal{P}}_{\Lambda_{\mathrm{gate}}}\) and global \(Q\) vs. marginal \(Q_i\) distinction in \(O_4\) vs. \(O_6\), explicit hypothesis labels on \(M^{(ij)} \neq 0\) and \(\frac{d\mathcal{I}}{d\tau} > 0\) in \(O_6\), strict non-universalization of r10 §5.10–§5.12 witness constructions and numerical ranges, \(O_1\) sign checks against the domain's physical transport direction, and consistency of each aperture's §2.3 declarations at every coordinate).
  3. Axis II — Thermodynamic & Dynamical Audit:
  4. Verify that openness is preserved at every coordinate (\(\Theta_E > 0\), \(\dot{s}_{\mathrm{prod}} > 0\), \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{tot}} > 0\); \(\theta > 0\) and \(\dot{W}_{\mathrm{ext}} > 0\) in Branch I only), that each aperture declares its branch before any test (closure (v)) and never relies on a statement of the other branch, that every non-default drive, transport tensor, or sink is declared under the binding closure (named law, finite pre-declared parameters, independent estimation, pre-declared tolerances, default comparison), that no quantity mapped to \(\theta\) oscillates in sign, that monotone relaxation is never conflated with periodic oscillation, and that finite-window claims are rate, residual, sign, or flux-prediction tests (§5.5).
  5. Axis III — Epistemological & Lexical Audit:
  6. Verify that the domain's native conceptual architecture is represented accurately according to primary scholarship in that discipline, using functorial correspondence language ("mapped via Spine \mathcal{T} to") without reductive identities or cross-aperture lexical mixing, and that no conditioning document asserts as fact a hypothesis that empirical_validation_protocol.md is designed to test.
  7. Axis IV — Holdout & Leakage Audit:
  8. Scan the text for any direct proper-noun leakage, regional linguistic signaling, or indirect structural-proxy motifs that could telegraph a held-out test site (using the categories in the withheld annex_a_auditor_motif_hygiene.md), replacing any suspect passages with universally portable formulations.
